A few years ago I wrote an magazine article entitled
'Living a Simply Art-Full Life'. In it, I shared a few words
that, to me, are the cornerstone of a truly
creative life. Words like: Create. Dream. Celebrate.
Grow. Risk. Nurture. Begin.
The article was very popular, and led to me writing and
illustrating a small book on this theme - as I was not
able to interest a mainstream publisher in my project, I
decided to self publish it - and it is still available,
(see the shop page above.)
I am also in the process of doing a journal
and set of illustrated 'joy cards' to go along with it!
So, this blog is part of my ongoing creative adventure
- heart and soul -
and in particular my new life here beside the sea,
as well as my explorations into the world
of flowers, herbs and natural healing. Nature is our greatest
gift and teacher, and she is always available to us -
we just have to step outside and notice!
Our lives are not, and never will be, perfect.
We have good days and awful ones.
Sad times and times of great joy.
But if there is one thing I have learned over the
past few (sometimes very difficult) years, is that it
really is all right. It is as it should be. We can live a
bright, blessed and creative life - a heartmade life - every
single day. We just have to choose it.
I try to explain a heartmade life this way.
We make, and create things, feelings, a life - every day.
Obviously we need our minds (and sometimes our
hands) to do that. But it is when we add the heart, our
true moral compass, to our activities, no matter how
simple or ordinary they may seem, that something
wonderful happens. Creativity blossoms
and the circle is complete.
I hope you will join me on this beautiful journey...
one that takes us back to centre, joy and peace.
Blessings and light
Gail B
